Pena Bio

Wylie ISD is thrilled to welcome Ms. Kathryn Pena as our new Orchestra Director!

Ms. Pena graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2020 and spent the past 6 years building an outstanding orchestra program at Horace Mann Middle School in Amarillo, TX. Under her direction, her students earned Superior ratings at UIL, Best in Class and Outstanding awards at the Greater Southwest Music Festival (Amarillo), and the Best Orchestra award at the Heartland Music Festival in Oklahoma City, OK.

She also gave back to the Amarillo music community as a sectional coach for Violins and Violas with the Amarillo Youth Symphony. With her extensive middle school orchestra experience, Ms. Pena is excited to bring her expertise, passion, and high standards to the orchestras of Wylie ISD!

When she’s not teaching, you can find her baking, traveling, or enjoying a good book.

Please join us in giving Ms. Pena a warm Wylie welcome! We can’t wait to see the music she helps create here.
